About Ashburton Hall

After undergoing a major modernisation project, Ashburton Hall is now home to various local music and performance arts groups and a venue for workshops and seminars. It offers a creative space for artists, performers and teachers. It is currently under the management of Deshi Arts, a creative partnership that will build and manage the programs until March 2018. Shuba and Devaki both share the council’s vision to create a local community arts hub that will add to the growing buzz in Croydon as a leading London Borough of Culture. They are thrilled to get on this exciting endeavour and delighted to be able to share their skills and experience to provide a creative space for the local community.

Deshi Arts will operate Ashburton Hall until March 2018, when GLL takes over the running of the town council’s leisure facilities across the borough. Additional investment will be made by GLL to improve the park, its facilities and the kiosk. They will make the hall fully accessible to the local community, the voluntary sector and commercial organisations to host events within the venue. Ashburton Hall will be operated in conjunction with the sports facilities in the park.

“Local people have been looking forward to this news for a long time, and I’m incredibly pleased that we are able to get the halls open at the earliest possible time by bringing in Deshi Arts to handle bookings and events as an interim measure before we put permanent arrangements in place next year.” - Councillor Alison Butler, Cabinet Member for Homes, Regeneration and Planning.

“This is fantastic news for everyone in the local area. Ashburton Hall will soon be returned to its rightful place at the heart of the community after this major investment by the council. We committed to delivering on this project right from the outset, and the future of the hall is now secured for generations to come.” - Councillor Timothy Godfrey, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Sport
